I was appalled that her mother, not only hated her, but was willing to push a totally inappropriate and illegal marriage. I was offended that her father cared NOTHING for her, and cared only for his own philandering, though I could understand that too. Please, can't she write about any caring parents who overburden in normal ways, such as pushing a marriage just because the spouse would bring wealth and class to it, rather than some bizarre twists? I especially hate characters who have fetishes with children, as many of her "bad" characters do. Moreover, Ms. Holt is known for some great sex scenes, and these were truly lacking.
